It seems like my lip balm has taken a back seat lately to the bright lip. I started experimenting with bright reds and pinks (here and here) and now have moved on to a beachy-coral look. I just throw on some mascara, dust the bronzer and swipe on an orangey- pink shade and instantly feel polished.

My love for coffee runs deep and know that drinking a daily cup of joe has it’s health benefits, but I didn’t know it also know it has a topical benefit…cellulite reduction!!! Many of the firming creams on the market contain caffeine which purge water from cellulite-affected areas -giving a more even texture to the skin (diminishing those lumps and bumps). The best part is, it’s easy to make your own.
1/2 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup sea salt or sugar
3-4 tablespoons oil of your choice (coconut, olive, grape seed)
Mix together and store in a sealed container.
And scrub away…..
The salad bar at Whole Foods is a hard-to-resist temptation when doing some basic grocery shopping. There are tons of nutrient packed pre made salads that detour me from the lettuce and shredded carrots… One of them is the Detox Salad. It’s a guilt- free blend of broccoli, carrots and cauliflower combined with currants and raisins that is simply delicious. Here’s a version that I found from Angela, on Oh She Glows, that is amazing and a fraction of the salad bar price.
Not only is it great for your waistline, it’s helps with seasonal allergies. More here.
My latest workout craze comes from celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson- her Total Body Mini-Trampoline Workout. It’s a high impact cardio class done a mini-trampoline which involves connecting the entire body as you get your heart pumping (complete with butt-kicking toning, too). I prefer her trampoline workouts over the dance cardio because I find them not as hard on my former ballerina joints. If you are curious to what the movements are like, or want to give it a try, check out this informal video here.
As for the trampoline, I picked mine up at Sports Authority for under $40- and have had it for years.
I recently saw Kate Hudson on a re-run of David Letterman and was mesmerized by her beachy hair and effortless beauty. Kate’s hair and makeup is the perfect compliment to her more edgy-bohemian style and is a look that doesn’t take many products to achieve.

Maxi skirts and dresses have become a summer uniform for me in the last few years. I love the easy, relaxed style when paired with a tank and barely-there sandals. This Alice + Olivia skirt has such beautiful, breezy fabric that having a fantasized Beyonce “wind moment” could easily become reality, but Zara’s option would look equally as dreamy.
To start off a new installment on the blog, I thought I would begin with French beauty Marion Cotillard. Her gorgeous skin and natural approach to makeup have me speechless and wanting to emulate in every way. This photo is taken from a recent red carpet in Cannes and is so fresh and spring-like, I could easily see being my everyday makeup.

There’s an added bonus to spring cleaning… finding random stuff you forgot you had. I discovered a huge spool of yarn in the back of my closet and contemplated trashing it until I thought how bright and fun it would look in the hair. I used yarn, but I’m sure it would be beautiful with leather cord or a delicate ribbon.
You’ll need: string of your choice, hair elastic and hairpins.
Step 1~ Bring hair to one side to create ponytail.
Step 2~ Begin wrapping string around hair elastic until covered.
Step 3~ Wrap string down ponytail.
Step 4~ Tie string in a knot at end of ponytail.
Step 5 ~ Bring across head and pin.
I hope this inspires your spring cleaning adventure…
In the last few weeks, I’ve been hit hard with seasonal allergies. To alleviate my symptoms, I’ve taken a more natural approach and made some small changes that have made a huge difference. Here’s some examples:
1. Adding more garlic to your diet helps to fight free radicals, such as allergens. (image)
2. Sipping this Gentle Nettle Tea recipe throughout the day decreases itchy eyes and throat dramatically.
3. Open your sinuses with a eucalyptus salt bath.
4. A neti pot can reduce nasal irritation.
5. A dirt catching doormat will help to not track in pollen, mold and dust.
6. I love this version of Whole Foods Detox Salad which is loaded with cruciferous vegetables- broccoli, cauliflower, etc…
7. Eating more citrus fruits, such as grapefruit, help to counteract inflammation. Try this yummy Avocado-Grapefruit Salad.
It’s time to break out the barbecue, the stack of books you haven’t yet read and lawn chair and head to the beach, backyard, pool or park…because it’s finally Memorial Day Weekend. Since my ghost like gams haven’t seen sun, I thought it would appropriate to start the summer season off with retro-inspired beachwear to glam up your holiday weekend.
1. Super chic white sunnies.
2. A floppy hat for added sun protection.
3. A slimming maillot for all body types.
4. Not so itsy-bitsy polka dot bikini. (top/bottom)
5. Dress up your swimsuit with this bandana print sarong.
6. I can’t wait to purchase a high-waisted suit like this.
7. Healthy sun screen.
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Memorial Day!!
